Ilya Mikhailovich Alekseyev is a Russian doctor living outside of London, where he has a small clinic combined with his private home. He has dedicated his life to the care of those different from humans, it being meta-humans or simply non-human beings. While he is an educated doctor, he decided to specialise in meta-humans due to his own family, where most are meta-humans. He himself is nothing but human though, something that has haunted him for quite some time. He has told himself that he is alright with this now, that he is alright with being simply human, but it still annoys him from time to time especially in certain situations or with certain triggers. He is a calm man, always able to keep his cool, something he has learnt with age; he has definitely not always been like this, but if there is anything he would like to avoid, it is talking about the past. Instead he tries to simply focus on the future and what it holds. It helps him just to focus on his patients and how to improve his practice. As of now, it is only him, but he does not get a lot of clients; but they are there, and they travel from far away to see him as he is one of the best - if not the only one - in his field with an amazing reputation. Sometimes he is even paid to travel to see his clients. He has managed to build this on his own and he is quite proud of this achievement, though he is definitely not the kind of type who brags. What he cares about is the well-being of others and being able to ensure others safety. Not only does he treat meta-humans with illnesses and such, but he helps them control and hide their abilities so they are able to live a normal life as much as possible. Though he does not understand this fully himself, he knows from his family, where he watched the world of meta-humans unfold itself since he was very young. This has simply always been a part of him, and if he cannot be one himself, he can at least try and make it better for those who want to be like him.
He enjoys the English countryside and has no problem with replacing Russia with it. Growing up in Moscow was indeed nice on the surface with parents earning well, ensuring that he could get a nice, international education and such, but he does not miss it much. He misses his mum and younger siblings, yes, but that is about it. He can sometimes miss his mother tongue, but he is alright. Sometimes, he is lucky enough to meet a Russian patient, but his English is fluent and no accent can be detected whatsoever at this point, besides a rather British one. He has had a bit of trouble relocating, but especially because of his language and his international education these were minimised. He has been living in the UK for quite some time now, and he has found himself very comfortable here. He has friends mainly from the area around his home as well as colleagues mainly from London as he is the only person at his own clinic. He also enjoys this, simply being by himself. With such a big family, he feels that it is a nice change of pace simply being alone. Some might see this a weird, but he has always felt a bit of a loner and really does not mind it.
Ilya is a nice looking guy, taking care of himself with regular exercise and eating well. He has the time to take care of himself as well as his patients - if he did not take care of himself but would tell his patients to do so, it would not really make much sense. He keeps his beard long, his hair a bit on the longer side too, but he tries to groom himself as well as possible, but it could definitely be better. He does not care much about his looks, even if he is quite handsome and could easily find someone to share his life with, but as of now he has found no one of such. Even if he knows that he's sort of good-looking, his self image is still not the best, which does not make this much easier, since opening up becomes a physical and mental struggle, so he simply doesn't do it. He simply seems to do better on his own, or at least prefer to do so. He has had no big interest in love at any given point. Yes, he has dated, though minimally, and his parents would probably like to see him marry soon, as they think he is getting old, but he likes the simple life where he is the one in control. In the end, the contact with his parents is minimal, so it's not that big of a point. He does feel lonely sometimes, though, but he suppresses it - he has done so for so long and he feels content with the life that he has now.

Where he was quite bitter when he was younger, he is much more of a pleasant person to be around after accepting himself. Now he is the type of person whose calmness rubs off onto others, it's simply hard to stay agitated and angry around him, something that makes people trust him naturally. Ilya likes being what he is: He's alone, he's a doctor, that seems fine, but he definitely gets lonely. He won't admit it, ever, but sometimes he really wish that he was more social, more open, more outgoing - more attractive to people. Not just looks, since he does know that he's fairly good looking - nothing much, but alright - but as a person. To him, he's a bit boring, which makes him being lonely make sense, since it's a very valid reason for people not to want to be with him. During the last few years, though, he has come to terms with this, just like the fact that he is merely human, and he has accepted this as a fact, prepared to be alone and simply enjoy helping others to fill that gap.
